It is not for nothing that the ants of the Azteca genus are named after the warlike Indians – they have more than enough aggression. These tree dwellers, of course, do not fight for their independence with the pale-faces, however, despite their small size, other ants avoid their nests.

Aztecs are not afraid even of nomadic species! Having discovered scouts on their territory, the ants catch them, stretch them by the paws and kill them. The same fate awaits any other border violators.

The Cecropia plant provides them with both a table (special secretions from glands that the ants happily consume) and a home – a hollow stem where they can live comfortably. In return, the friendly, fast and aggressive Azteca do not allow pests onto the stem and leaves.

Having a simply phenomenal sensitivity to surface vibrations, they hear where on the surface of a plant someone alien is crawling, instantly run there and send it to feed the family.
