- Diet: Primarily feeds on liquid sugars and proteins like fruit flies, crickets, and mealworms. A high-protein diet accelerates colony growth.
- Temperature: Benefits from heating, with an optimal range of 75-82°F, though they can grow at room temperature.
- Diapause: Requires a 3-4 month diapause at around 37-45°F. This can be achieved using a wine cooler, mini fridge, or an unheated room that stays above freezing. Gradual cooling is recommended.
